Huntsman is leading trade mission to China

Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. is leading a “Utah” trade mission to China.  This is a good move by the Huntsman as he attempts to improve the business and economic climate in Utah.  He served and LDS mission in Taiwan and served as US ambassador to Singapore and later as a US trade representative in Asia.  I beleive he is the only Governor in the US to speak Mandarin.

If a strong relationship can be created between Utah business and China, alot of business could begin to flow into Utah.  If I owned a large manufacturing company and wanted to do business in China and I knew that by moving my company to Utah I would have an uperhand in negotiations and pricing with China, I would do it in a heart beat.

Another side effect could be improved relations with the LDS church and a future opportunity to send missionaries into the country.
